9. Use of Foriegn Languages.
The Social String uses foriegn languages within its content. When a language other than English is utilized, the words are accompanied with their English translation. However, not all languages translate directly into a 1:1 match with American English. This includes, what is commonly refered to as “Queen’s English”. The intent of sharing words and phrases from other cultures, is to provide a level of comfort and knowledge of all persons planning or currently enjoying retirement. Many cultures include words that qualify gender or age of the speaker of receipeint. This site will tend to lean towards the adult feminan as it presents the more culturally sensative syntax. Foreign language incluse is designed to increase a level of travel familiarity while providing common phrases (such as hello, thank you, and toilet) that make any trip more enjoyable. If however, you recognize a word or phrase and feel it inadvertantly misrepresents its intended meaning, we appreciate comments and recommendations that aid in accuracy and appropriate nuance of its intended meaning.
